The Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary arrives in New York
Nissan unveiled a special edition of its all-new Nissan GT-R at the latest New York Auto Show, putting the spotlight on one of the world's most iconic and recognized cars.
"The GT-R requires a global balance," said Hiroshi Tamura, Chief Product Specialist for the GT-R. Even more than reaching a new power peak, we wanted to revisit the GT-R in depth, weighing every detail. We believe this is the way to celebrate the GT-R's 50th anniversary. "
The new 2020 Nissan GT-R gets a wide range of several improvements, but initially its performance remains quite remarkable. Its 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo engine develops 565 horsepower and can reach 100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds. Its all-wheel drive makes it possible to exploit the performances in all possible situations. The GT-R gets new turbochargers that improve power delivery and make the car a lot faster out of the corners.
"For half a century, the Nissan GT-R has been the driving performance icon of our company," said Shinichiro Irie, Director of Program Design for the GT-R. We were determined that the 50th anniversary edition would stand out. Although exterior and interior changes seem subtle at first glance, they are nevertheless striking - especially the new colors - and make the lines and overall presence of the car modern and bold. "
The Nissan GT-R 2020 50th Anniversary is entitled to three shades and two-tone colors that take the famous colors of the past, including blue Bayside with white stripes that we have already seen on the GT-R R34.
"The 2020 model is true to the spirit of the GT-R, which is to maximize driving pleasure," says Tamura. As soon as you have the steering wheel in your hands, you will know immediately that no other car will offer you so much satisfaction, both physically and spiritually. "
