Government of Canada's IVZE program benefits Nissan LEAF

Government of Canada's IVZE program benefits Nissan LEAF

The world's best-selling electric car will be even more affordable as of May 1 when the Government of Canada's iVZE program comes into effect. This new program provides incentives of up to $ 5,000 for the purchase of an electric vehicle such as the Nissan LEAF or the Nissan LEAF Plus.

To be eligible for the program, the car must cost less than $ 45,000, a criterion easily met by the 100% electric Nissan LEAF that is available from $ 40,698 for the "traditional" LEAF and $ 43,998 for the Nissan LEAF PLUS. While the first is powered by a 40-kWh battery, the second gets an even more powerful 62-kWh battery. This translates into 242 kilometers and 363 kilometers of range respectively.

What's most exciting about this new $ 5,000 rebate is that it can be matched with the current provincial rebates. In other words, you can get up to $ 8,000 more in Quebec and $ 5,000 more in British Columbia. Said differently, that means you can get up to $ 13,000 and $ 10,000 off the purchase of your Nissan LEAF.

The maximum incentive of the Government of Canada program is available on the purchase of a new LEAF or when you lease for 48 months. A 36-month lease results in a $ 3,750 rebate while $ 2,500 and $ 1,250 discounts are available with a 24-month and 12-month lease, respectively.

"Nissan Canada is delighted by this announcement, as it will lead to major progress in the adoption of EVs, and ultimately a more sustainable future," says François Lefevre, chief marketing manager, Nissan LEAF. "As leaders in the EV space, Nissan is continually innovating and striving towards our vision of a zero-emissions future. Support of this sort by the government is just an additional reason for us all to keep working towards a cleaner tomorrow."

In any case, this program will certainly be welcomed with open arms on the market. It makes the purchase and adoption of an electric vehicle truly affordable and allows everyone to discover all the benefits of electric cars like the Nissan LEAF. Come learn more today at Vickar Nissan.
