The 2018 Nissan Leaf Has Arrived in North America

With more than 283,000 units sold worldwide, the Nissan Leaf is by far the best-selling electric vehicle in the world, and now the Japanese automaker has introduced the brand new 2018 Nissan Leaf, its new-gen EV which will undoubtedly push those numbers even higher.

Thanks to increased range, more technology, and a very modern, very techy interior, the 2018 Nissan Leaf should also be able to convince buyers who weren’t sure about EVs to free themselves from their gasoline addiction.

Improved range for the 2018 Nissan Leaf

The 2018 Nissan Leaf will gets its power from a new 40 kWh battery that now provides 241 kilometers of range, almost 70 kilometers more than the outgoing Leaf. That means more freedom, and much less range anxiety. Nissan also plans to introduce an even more powerful 60 kWh battery down the road which will provide even more range.

Other exclusive technologies found in the 2018 Nissan Leaf include the e-Pedal system which allows the driver to control the car using only the accelerator. In other words, when you lift your foot off the right pedal, the car will slow down as if you were applying the brakes.

The 2018 Nissan Leaf is also the first vehicle in the Nissan lineup in North American to include the automaker’s new ProPilot driver assistance and active safety system. Nissan’s ProPilot is designed to reduce fatigue and stress by keeping an eye on the road and other vehicles. It can automatically steer you back in the right direction if it detects that you are going out of your lane, and it can also brake for you if needed.
