2019 Nissan Altima: New Look and New Engine

It’s here: the all-new Nissan Altima sedan. Revealed for the first time a the 2018 New York International Auto show, this completely overhauled version of the already popular Altima sedan promises to not only deliver in terms of performance but in technology as well. After 25 years of Altima sales, with more than 5.6 million units sold, this model marks a whole new era for Nissan and their largest sedan model.

In terms of design, the 2019 Nissan Altima delivers on all counts and features the company’s Vmotion 2.0 concept look. The bold front grille, with expressive headlights and muscular front bumper and hood allude to the fact that the 2019 Nissan Altima isn’t just a pretty face, but also a powerhouse on the road. Follow a shapely shoulderline to the rear and you’ll recognize Nissan’s signature floating roofline, as well as a sculpted elegant trunk with a subtle deck-lid spoiler, and dual tailpipes. Lower, longer and wider, the 2019 Nissan Altima is available with 19” wheels, as well.

Inside, Nissan designers and engineers have worked together to create a comfortable and practical space for driver and passengers alike. Updated Zero Gravity seats, along with a much sleeker, simplified centre console, bring the 2019 Nissan Altima to a new level of comfort and style. NissanConnect is standard and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, all available and accessible on an 8” colour touchscreen.

All the design element upgrades inside and out aren’t the most exciting change for the 2019 Nissan Altima, no there are a few more tricks the sedan has under its hood.

For this sixth generation 2019 Nissan Altima, all five trim levels (S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum) will be offered with an available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. When equipped with the updated 2.5L, the Altima can also be outfitted with AWD (for the first time). With our long Canadian winters, this is huge. At the moment, the AWD will only be available with one engine choice, however, expect that to change in the future.

Speaking of engine choices: The 2019 Nissan Altima has two now. Along with the revamped 2.5L, the previous generation’s 3.5L V6 is now replaced with something totally brand new to Nissan and the automotive world: a 2.0L VC-Turbo (only available in FWD models). This variable compression turbocharged inline 4-cylinder delivers V6 performance while being as efficient as 4-cylinder should be.

The 2019 Nissan Altima will be available as of this coming fall. But until then, make sure you head down to your local Vickor Nissan to speak to our experts about everything the new Altima has to offer. And don’t forget to book a test drive as soon as the vehicle is available later on in the year.
